After the successful pilot in 2017 of the Refugee[e]Education course for Dutch general practitioners and physician assistants, new training rounds were started in January 2018. In total 74 persons signed up for the e-learning and workshop. Two training groups were organized, one in Amsterdam with 46 participants and the other in The Hague with 28 participants. In January all participants received an introduction e-mail with information about the course, e-learning platform and accreditation and registration options. During the 3 months e-learning period participants received regular reminders and information about the course via e-mail to finish the 8 modules.
At the 3rd of April and the 17th of April closing workshops were organized. During the workshop the e-learning was evaluated, guided case discussions took place as well as a presentation by social teams in the city. Additionally a presentation concerning mental health and refugees in Amsterdam and one about care for refugees-lessons learned in the region of The Hague were given.
Participants were positive about the course and all would recommend it to others. With the valuable suggestions during the evaluation the course will be further improved and options are explored to organize new training groups in other regions of the Netherlands.
