This month we welcome two new students to the team! Based on Health[e]Foundation’s affiliation to the Amsterdam University Medical Center (Amsterdam UMC) and the department for Global Health Education we are pleased to serve as a learning hub for students and welcome their dedicated time to investigate our projects in more detail.
They introduce themselves to you:
“My name is Esther and I am one of the two new interns at Health[e]Foundation. I’m in the first year of the Global Health Master at the VU in Amsterdam and before that I studied Cultural Anthropology in Utrecht. For my internship I will evaluate the impact of the Female&Family[e]Education course in Ethiopia by interviewing midwives and local community members. I have worked with midwives before when I studied traditional midwifery practices and knowledge in a rural village in Guatemala. In my free time I enjoy hiking and playing basketball.”
“My name is Meike, I am a first year student Management Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship in Health and Life Sciences. During my master I focus on international public health because I have become passionate about international public health during my bachelor Health Sciences and minor in Taiwan. In my spare time, I volunteer by reading for children to stimulate their language development. During my internship at Health[e]Foundation I will focus on the evaluation of the Health[e]Living project looking at the sexual health of adolescents in Uganda. I am curious to see how we can improve the Health[e]Living project and aim for health for all.”
We wish Meike and Esther an inspiring time both at our office in Amsterdam as well as during their data collection and evaluation period in Ethiopia and Uganda!
