For the very first time since its existence, Health[e]Foundation conducted a training course in Nigeria..
With an educational grant of Janssen, Pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson, between January – May 125 medical doctors, nurses and pharmacists followed the course program HIV and Treat’n Care[e]Education in Nigeria. In collaboration with Prof Abdulrazaq Habib and Dr. Muhammad Hamza from the Bayero University in Kano, a series of successful kick-off and follow-up workshops were organized. During the workshops the group of enthusiastic participants enjoyed interactive guest lectures by local experts on initiation of ART, mental health and HIV, stigma and discrimination, palliative care and HIV, nutrition and HIV, pediatric HIV and HIV-TB co-infection. Participants were very positive about the workshops, the e-learning modules and the newly gained knowledge. A total of 124 participants received their well-deserved certificates. The success in Nigeria should not be limited to this group. We are looking forward to further collaboration with the Bayero University and the Aminu Kano teaching hospital in future projects.
