Empowering Care Group Representatives in Ethiopia

In February, 50 Health Extension Workers from Boreda and Kucha Woreda in Ethiopia started their learning journey as part of the Health[e]Family program. They all received personal tablets to access the Health[e]Family e-course and the LUCY Care app to better support their communities with key information for a healthy life. Building on this initiative, the program also aims to support Care Group Representatives, who serve as the leaders of women’s groups that discuss topics such as pregnancy and child care on a weekly basis.

Self-breast examination demonstration – March 19-22, 2024, Zefine/Arbaminch

From March 19 to March 22, Health[e]Foundation and Nuru Ethiopia organized training sessions for these Care Group Representatives conducted by Health Extension Workers. A total of 113 women participated in Boreda and Kucha woreda. The training sessions covered a wide range of topics, including nutrition, breastfeeding, antenatal and postnatal care, immunization, and danger signs during pregnancy. The participants had the chance to engage actively in the training through role-playing, skill demonstrations, and group discussions.

Based on the feedback we received, the participants were very excited about the training and were eager to share the knowledge and skills with their community members.

We are very happy to hear the participants enjoyed the training and learned a lot. A huge thanks to Emebet Hussen from Health[e]Foundation and Yoseph Dolebo from Nuru Ethiopia for arranging the sessions!
