About us

About us
Health[e]Foundation has taken on the challenge of providing healthcare professionals with access to crucial information, particularly in regions that are most deprived of resources.

Health[e]Foundation was founded in the Netherlands in 2003 by Prof. Dr. Fransje van der Waals with the belief that healthcare professionals all over the world require accurate and state-of-the-art information.

Health[e]Foundation started out with one course: HIV[e]Education, which was offered as a blended learning program. Over the years, the organization has grown and broadened its scope: it now offers educational programs on a range of topics in various formats; and educates the community as well as healthcare professionals.

There are critical shortages of healthcare workers in most areas where Health[e]Foundation works. We therefore use innovative technologies – such as distance on- and offline learning and mobile health – to facilitate learning, without the need to leave clinics unattended. Participants can study at their own pace and in their own time, even in the most remote areas.

Health[e]Foundation envisions a world with access to quality healthcare and to essential information, in order to achieve better health for all.

How we work

We offer health education and information services that use several on-and offline learning methods. We tailor our programs to the specific needs of the target group and their situation. Read more about how we work and what we offer in our services.

We support healthcare professionals and community workers in the world’s most vulnerable societies to ensure quality health for everyone in need by providing digital education and information.

We strive to educate and inform healthcare professionals and communities about topics such as maternal and neonatal health, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), community health, disease prevention and mental health in order to strengthen healthcare systems and communities globally. We educate healthcare professionals who care for vulnerable populations to ensure quality treatment for everyone in need. Health[e]Foundation educates and informs community members about disease prevention, healthy living, life skills, and SRHR to promote healthy self-management by individuals. We support local infrastructure and promote the concept that good healthcare is a condition for social and economic growth.
